¿Qué hacen C40 y Bloomberg Cities Idea Exchange?

Leer

GO BILINGUAL selected to facilitate communication in a webinar on the global initiative for social housing electrification and renovation

The translation agency GO BILINGUAL facilitated multilingual exchange in Spanish, English, and Portuguese for the international program Community-driven Housing Electrification Roadmap: Renovating and Retrofitting Social Housing, an initiative led by C40 Cities and the Bloomberg Cities Idea Exchange.

What is this initiative about?

The central goal of the program is equitable electrification and sustainable renovation of social housing, particularly in vulnerable communities. Rather than building from scratch, it focuses on retrofitting and adapting existing homes to make them more efficient, healthier, and more climate-resilient. This includes the installation of clean technologies such as heat pumps, solar panels, and electric appliances, thus reducing emissions and improving residents’ quality of life.

What are C40 and Bloomberg Cities Idea Exchange doing?

  • C40 Cities, a network of nearly 100 cities committed to climate action, promotes urban policies that reduce emissions and advance social justice.
  • Bloomberg Cities Idea Exchange acts as a global platform to replicate successful urban solutions, providing technical assistance, operational roadmaps, and implementation funding to help other cities adopt these strategies.

Both organizations advocate for community-led renovation programs, where residents actively participate in the planning and execution of improvements to their homes.

What’s happening in Latin America?

Although the region has reached 97% electricity coverage, around 18 million people still lack reliable access, particularly in rural areas. Initiatives from organizations like CAF and the Global Alliance for Sustainable Energy are driving electrification projects through renewable sources, while countries such as Colombia, Brazil, and Chile are piloting community-based energy models to close the gap.

What does the Equitable Home Electrification Toolkit offer?

Created by RMI and the Emerald Cities Collaborative, this toolkit is a practical guide for local governments and communities to design equitable electrification roadmaps. It encourages community co-participation, identifies technical and social barriers, and proposes solutions to prevent displacement, improve health, and lower energy costs.

Why is GO BILINGUAL essential?

GO BILINGUAL’s involvement ensures that the initiative’s content, webinars, and technical materials are accessible in three key languages: Spanish, English, and Portuguese. Their role is critical in:

  • Facilitating intercultural communication across cities in the Americas, Europe, and Africa.
  • Ensuring local communities understand and actively engage in the electrification and renovation processes.
  • Translating not only words, but also intentions, contexts, and technical solutions with precision and cultural sensitivity.

With expertise in sustainability, technical language, and public communication, GO BILINGUAL serves as a strategic bridge between global innovation and local action.
