La ofensiva contra los delitos sexuales en Medellín ha resultado en un aumento significativo de las capturas de extranjeros implicados en estos crímenes. Este año, las detenciones de turistas foráneos han crecido un 350%, con 18 detenidos hasta la fecha, en comparación con solo cuatro el año pasado.

El jueves 8 de agosto, dos estadounidenses y un venezolano fueron detenidos dentro de un establecimiento comercial en el Parque Lleras, sumándose a la lista de capturas. Según el Sistema de Información para la Seguridad y la Convivencia (Sisc), se han registrado 11 capturas de turistas relacionados con la explotación sexual de niños, niñas y adolescentes, mientras que el año pasado solo se contabilizaba un caso. El alcalde Federico Gutiérrez ha enfatizado: “No vamos a tapar nada, este año hemos trabajado duro para evidenciar y combatir este delito”.

Entre los detenidos, siete son estadounidenses, uno es mexicano, otro chino, uno tailandés y otro venezolano, según los registros de la Secretaría de Seguridad de Medellín.
